The NEMA type 1 electrical enclosure is a very popular enclosure. It is designed for indoor use and protects personal from having incidental contact with it’s components.

The NEMA 1 enclosure is the most basic of the NEMA and UL rated electrical enclosures in that they provide the least amount of protective features and are the most basic of the electrical enclosures.

The NEMA 1 enclosure UL listed, protects it’s components from dust and incidental contact, but does not have a sealing surface to protect from blowing dust and is only appropriate for indoor use.
